What's Happening

Spring break is over and this week we are back to waking up to an alarm clock.  The weather is almost like summertime here and we had one undone "to do" on our list before sending Brice back to school.  Our zoo opened a brand new sea lion exhibit over break and we hurried out on Sunday to see it for ourselves.

Today, we took time to go play in the sunshine and crazy wind.  We played in the dirt and let our hair blow in the wind.  Now we're headed off to pick Brice up from school.  We're back into the swing of things.

Urgent Placement Needed

I was contacted with a situation of AA twin boys born yesterday and the birth mother is waiting for an AA family or biracial with at least one AA parent to place.  If you are home study ready and meet the requirements please contact me for information asap.  I'm sorry, I know many caucasian families who would love to adopt them but the birth mother was very specific.  My email is adoptivemomma2@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Spring Break

I picked Brice up from school yesterday and he said, "Woo hoo I'm free!"  He is officially on spring break.  Today I will spend my day hanging with all three of the kids and packing so we can leave for Sea World soon.

Brian and I returned from a quick trip to Florida on Tuesday which left a couple of days for laundry catch up and to repack for San Antonio.  Brian and I spent our days watching the St. Louis Cardinals play spring baseball and enjoying the beach.  It was very relaxing and a wonderful getaway.
We woke up to this view everyday and could hear the waves crash from our balcony.
We sat on the second row behind home plate.  I could practically reach out and tap the players on the shoulder while they waited on deck.  Chipper Jones waiting for his turn at the plate.
#55 Skip Schumaker is one of my favorite Cardinals.  He's rather cute and I certainly enjoyed my up close and personal view each time he came up to bat.
Mark McGwire and my favorite former Cardinal Jimmy Edmonds watching from the dugout.
Jaime Garcia was the starting pitcher that day.  The Cardinals won in the bottom of the ninth 5-4.
We came home to these three turkeys and believe it or not we missed them very much.  They enjoyed staying home with their grandparents while we were gone.
Guess who decided she's ready to crawl?  She is working hard and is very close to becoming mobile.

My Adopted Son

A few months ago I slipped and said something I thought was hilarious but the person I was speaking to probably thought I was a total loon. It's possible I even blogged about this and completely forgot.  If so, feel free to skip this post and wait for the next.

For some reason yesterday, the whole episode popped into my head again so here goes...

Around the holidays Brice had a party at school.  Brian and I do our best to always make sure one of us attends. I was in his class to party down kindergarten style and speaking to one of the other mothers. Suddenly, Brice's little bud Davin yelled, "Hey Anna!" waved and ran over to me. I proceeded to point out our sweet Brice and then explained how we know little Davin.

We take Davin to school a few days a week.  Davin is at our house a lot and has become one of ours. As I started to explain to the other mother I said, "and this is my adopted son Davin".  Then I started to giggle and couldn't stop.  I had just called Davin my adopted son. I thought it was hilarious but she probably thought I was a whack job for laughing.  It's funny how we eventually forget our actual kids are not biologically ours.

The classroom mom had no idea our children actually are adopted.  She had no clue we are adoptive parents and saying that our friend's child is our "adopted son" is pretty comical given how our family was formed.  If she had known, she would have understood my laughter.  We don't hide our adoptions but we do not broadcast them to strangers either.

Someone once said to me giving birth is a very small part of being a mother.

I think that is very true.  After while, you're just a mother and that is all that matters.

What We've Been Up To

Avenn continues to be happy and the sweetest girl around.
She's more interested in her feet than much of anything else.
 Rogan is still hunting everyday.
He hunts pheasants and brings them to me to cook for dinner.
Avenn finally got to wear her big fuzzy jacket.
I attempted to get pictures of all three kids together.
This is the best one if that tells you anything.
Brice had his second horse show and won a second place ribbon.
He could not have more proud and neither could we.
That is what we have been up to.
