Playing in the snow

We got a couple of inches or so of snow last night so we were able to get out and play in it this afternoon. Brice and I had a fun snowball fight and he enjoyed pushing it around the drive way. The grass isn't really covered so we couldn't play in the yard. Rogan had fun watching us from the front door in his jumper. Brice took his rubber snake outside to play in the snow. Rubber snakes pretty much go everywhere with us. We have scared the life out of people in Wal-Mart and the grocery store with rubber snakes.

Ice Storm

We've been getting ice since yesterday at noon. Everything is closed and we're holed up inside, except for Brian of course, he had to go into work. He needs a job that gets snow days :) This stuff is supposed to continue throughout the night and into the morning. We finally got a little bit of snow on top of it so it is a little less slippery. By this weekend we're supposed to be back to almost 60 degrees. Crazy Oklahoma weather.

We had a very lazy weekend at the Mitchell house. It was wonderful. Brian took the weekend off and we just hung out. It was cold here so we watched movies and lit the fireplace. Today we did venture outdoors and took the boys to Bass Pro so Brice could see the fish and climb all over the ATVs. It was an uneventful and perfect weekend. Brice picked out a pop gun at Bass Pro and has been hunting his rubber snakes this afternoon. Enjoy the pictures.

Just a few pictures

It's been really cold here lately so we have been home most of the week. I've had my camera out and have tried to take a few pictures. Brice is wise to the camera and when it comes out he runs for cover. He'll sometimes let me take one or two photos, if I'm lucky. Today I asked him to let me take a picture of him and he sat down in front of the buffet table. I asked him to smile and this is what I got...
I'll take whatever I can get. I asked for one more and he went to the front door. This time I didn't ask for a smile. I blame myself and my mother. We took so many pictures of him when he was a baby I think he's been scarred by the flash.
Here are a few of Rogan too. He doesn't mind the camera...yet.

Random Picture Challenge

I was invited by one of my blogger buddies to participate in a random picture challenge. The challenge is to go to pictures taken last May and select the 21st picture in the file. Our picture was taken on May 5th and is of Brice playing in his room with his dinosaurs. At that time he's an only child. Unbeknownst to all of us, his world was going to change in about two months. Rogan was born on July 9th.
If you'd like to participate in the challenge, pick the 21st picture from your May 2008 file and blog about it.

Rogan is 6 months old!

We took Rogan to the doctor this morning for his 6 month check up. He is right on target in his development. He weighed 17.1 lbs and was 26 inches long. His weight is in the 50th percentile and his height the 40th. He has definitely caught up since he was only 5 lbs 9 oz when he was born. He is getting so big and rolling all over the place. He found his feet the week of Christmas. Watching him play with his feet is hilarious. He is pushing himself around on his belly on the floor. He'll be crawling and sitting up before we know it. We've been lucky the first 6 months, no colds, flu, or ear issues. He is happy and healthy. We cannot believe it has been 6 months already!

The Zoo

The weather was great today, so I got the boys around early, we went out for breakfast, then headed to the zoo. I was shocked when we were one of the few people there. It has been pretty cold and I figured everyone was ready to spend a day outdoors. We sure were ready for some fresh air. We spent about three hours at the zoo today, and we're usually only there about an hour and a half. Brice was so good. I was going to take advantage of his good behavior and stay as long as we could. I was hopeful that all the walking, and playing on the playground, would wear his 3 year old behind out. No such luck. He napped for about 10 minutes on the way home and has been up ever since!

Manny's Apprentice

We took Brice to Target yesterday so he could get some more track for his new train set. We made the mistake of letting him walk down the toy aisle. We ended up coming home with a Handy Manny tool set and no additional track for the train set. As if, our kids didn't receive enough for Christmas, we had to get just one more thing! Brice now thinks he is Handy Manny. He goes around the house "fixing" everything. It is pretty funny. We had not seen these tool sets during our Christmas shopping, or he probably would have received it anyway. Here are a few pictures of Handy Brice at work and hanging out with his brother. You'll notice that every picture of Rogan includes a lot of drool and his hands in his mouth right now. We're still working on getting those first teeth.

Second Christmas

We had our second Christmas over New Year's. Brian's parents came down and were able to stay for a couple of days before heading back to work. Brice got more toys! His favorite toy had to be Spike the Dinosaur. He loves the remote control dinosaur and makes it walk all over the place. He also likes to make Spike bite his foot and thinks it's hilarious. Brice's Grandpa Mitchell got him his very own camouflaged hard hat with his name on it. Brice loves it. It will probably come in handy because the child needs to wear a helmet most of the time :) He's a crazy dare devil! Rogan had fun too, he loves having his grandma rock him to sleep and sing to him. It was nice to have more hands here to hold Rogan while he's teething and fussing.

We had another great Christmas and enjoyed spending a few days with Brian's parents. They also brought with them gifts from Brian's family in Neosho. We were all spoiled again. Thanks everyone!
