Movin' On

The year 2013 has barely begun and we are up to our eyeballs in adventure around here.  When we decide to do something big it usually happens quickly with very little notice.  In 1999, Brian decided to go to law school and within a couple of weeks he had sublet a place and moved out of state.  Around the same time, we decided to get married after a 2 year engagement and gave our parents about a month's notice to plan a wedding.  When we decided to adopt we told our families and five months later we brought home our oldest son.  Moving quickly is how we roll around here.

In December, we decided we would place our house on the market "For Sale By Owner".  We figured we would see what would happen and then following the holidays we would ask a realtor to list our home and be in a new house by spring time.

Unexpectedly, a week and half ago a young lady and her realtor drove by our house and picked up a flyer.  They called me and asked to see the house in the next 45 minutes.  Oh, okay sure I said.  Please know we just finished up Christmas with family and we have three children.

To say I scrambled is an understatement.   I picked up and hid items in my car and the garage to try to make the house resemble cleanliness.  I banished the boys and the two dogs to the backyard to play for a while and Avenn followed me around while I broke a sweat trying to spruce the place up.

The potential buyer was our first walk through and within a couple of hours we had an offer.  The next day we settled on a price and closing date.

The new owner wants to move into the house by the end of the month.   Luckily, I was able to find us a rental within a couple of days.  You see, we are purchasing a larger lot in a more rural area south of us and we have not even closed on that lot yet.  So we will be moving into a neighborhood much like the one we are leaving until we can build our dream house.

In the meantime, Brian is beginning a trial two days after the moving truck arrives while also negotiating an expansion to his law firm.

We are less than two weeks into 2013 and it appears to be a busy one!  Big things are happening to our family and we are just rolling right along.  Onward and upward Mitchells!
