Adoption Nation

I was given the opportunity to participate in a blog tour today.  To participate, I was asked to read the recently updated and revised Adoption Nation: How the Adoption Revolution is Transforming Our Families - and America by Adam Pertman then give my review.  Here is my synopsis...

Adoption Nation is an understandable, relatable resource for those seeking a comprehensive review of the all too confusing process.
A former journalist, Mr. Pertman compounds his research on adoption with his personal knowledge as an adoptive parent. He shares insight and personal stories of people touching on all sides of the adoption triad. He discusses the evolution of adoption and the vast changes that have swept through society and changed our outlook.

Mr. Pertman writes about tough issues and suggests improvements to social policy.  His research and resources are invaluable and the Adoption Nation index provides a wealth of resources.

My favorite quote from the book,

"Adoption provides most of the people it touches with a beacon of hope, a second chance, or a family.  Or all of the above."

Exactly.

If you are a parent in waiting or are seriously considering adoption either domestic or international, this book is a must have tool.  As an adoptive parent, I felt his writing was relatable and found myself nodding my head and saying, we did that.  Yep, that happened to us.  I completely understand.  That is how I felt!

Adoption Nation definitely stands out among the many books written on the topic of adoption.

It gets better.  If you are interested in receiving a FREE copy of Adoption Nation here is your chance.  I am pleased to say three copies of the book have been provided and will be given away here on AM2 to three lucky winners!  You want to win?  It's easy, here's how..

Simply, leave me a comment telling me why you need to add Adoption Nation to your personal library.  Tomorrow evening, I will post the three random, lucky winners! Good luck.

I would LOVE to win a copy! I love reading anything & everything we can get our hands on. We have recently switch from international to domestic; I've enjoyed catching up on your blog. Thanks for the review!

Why I need it? We have two boys - both adopted domestically through open adoptions. We are paper ready for #3. In the meantime we are interim parents through our agency to newborns between their birth and placement in their adoptive families. We are walking advertisements for adoption and eager to share our story with anyone who will listen. We love how we have been blessed through adoption and how God uses us in so many other placements.

I would love to own this book. Although we have already completed one domestic adoption, we are in process on an international adoption now and I am always looking for good books to add to our aoption "library".

I'm an adoptive parent and always looking for new opportunities to know all of the areas I can about the adoption triad, be it other adoptive parents, or hearing the voices of first parents and adults who were adopted as children. I'd love to expand my adoption book library!

As a single professional working mother of a beautiful adopted 14 month old baby girl - I am a huge fan of adoption and the incredible gift it brings. I have the opportunity to adopt a biological sibling to my daughter - due this summer. I want to read all I can get my hands on to be the best mom I can to my daughters. I would love to win Adoption Nation! Tina

Yay! It's working for me now. I have no "earth shattering" reason as to why I'd like this book. I just would like to have it. And God knows that I need all of the help I can get.

Hey...you can always count on me to be honest. :)

As I soon to be first time adoptive parent and single mother I would love to win a copy. I can use all the help I can get :c)

I'm adopting from Honduras which has been a wonderful journey, but challenging. For those of us adopting from the less common countries there aren't any dedicated books, culture programs, or other resources, which makes books like this are even more important to us.
Thanks for doing this!

We are waiting for a birthmom to notice one of our adoption ads and pick us to parent their baby/child. If we get picked we'll need lots of help figuring out how to tell our child they are adopted. Would love to read the book...will help us with our journey.

We have been trying to adopt for 6 years now and are finally nearing the end of the process to adopt 2 children from foster care. I tend to devour any and all books related to adoption. I am interested in seeing what this book has to say. I am sure there will be much that my husband and I can relate to.

I NEED this book as we approach our second domestic adoption. I think it's essential to arm oneself with as much information and knowledge as possible and I am particularly interested in reading about the tough issues surrounding adoption and what changes to social policy Mr. Pertman suggests.

Oh, My really last minute. Like is it over? I would love the book and need to read more on adoption. I have two little ones that are foster adopted and like to be informed and enlightened on adoption issues.
