Avenn's finalization hearing is set for tomorrow afternoon. A finalization that should have taken no more than 6 months has now taken almost one year.
We have been put through the wringer by the county court. We have submitted and resubmitted documents no less than 4-5 times in some cases. The court lost Avenn's original birth certificate, not once but twice actually. We have been required to submit documents that are not even required by statute.
We have decided to not ask our extended family to attend the hearing that may or may not happen tomorrow. We do not want to bring everyone into court only to leave disappointed. Our parents have attended our previous two finalizations.
The grandparents will be at our house with our boys awaiting word that everything has been signed on the dotted line. Assuming the final decree is approved we will come home to celebrate Avenn's finalization and her first birthday. If the decree is not signed by the judge we will still party on celebrating her 1st birthday. We will be celebrating one way or another tomorrow. We hope to have two reasons to celebrate.
Fingers and toes crossed. Stay tuned.
