Just one week short of a year we have finalized Avenn's adoption. Brian and I were in court yesterday with our little girl while our parents and the boys waited at home to hear whether or not the judge had FINALLY signed the decree. Our hearing started at 2:00 p.m. and by 2:45 p.m. I was sending text messages announcing the news.
We are so thankful to have this chapter behind us. The process was torture the third time around and cost us a lot financially and emotionally although it was all worth it in the end.
Whew!
After finally making her legally ours we sent her away...with her grandparents. My parents took the boys this morning for a week spent with them in Texas and Brian's parents headed home to Missouri with Avenn. This week Brian and I are kid free. We kicked our freedom off with a bang...Brian mowed and fixed fence with the neighbor while I went to the allergy doctor to get a shot in the hiney and to the car wash to detail my car. I know, we go wild when given the chance! Watch out!

Congratulations! Our final order of adoption came through when our son was 13 months old. We did not have to go to court. We just waited for the judge to sign. He was very picky and that took about 2 months. Sigh! We now have our son's new birth certificate and just went to social security this past week. Oh, it's a lot of work, but worth it!!!
