The Pool

Our neighborhood pool opens this weekend, but we decided to get a jump start on summer today. I have shrugged off all responsibility this week and have played outside with the kids everyday. I have managed to cook dinner every night except one...although we've eaten most of our meals on the patio. We may not have clean socks or underwear, the house may be messy, the carpet has not been vacuumed, but we have had a lot fun this week. And, we're getting a good start on our summer tans.

The boys and I ran to Big Lots early this morning and bought a pool. We had a great one last year, with a slide and everything, but at the end of summer our lab Fisher decided to jump in with Brice and he managed to tear a hole in the bottom of it. So, Brice and Rogan got a new pool this year.

Here is our day in pictures...

Welcome Back Sunshine

We put up with rain for a few weeks and now we are reaping the rewards. It has been beautiful here the last few days and more of the same is expected for the rest of the week. The temperature is a perfect 75 degrees, the sun is shining and there are no clouds in the sky. The boys and I have spent the last two days outdoors. We have eaten lunch and dinner on the patio and we've been soaking up our Vitamin D. I found out last week while at the park that Rogan is allergic to sunscreen but we found an organic brand California Baby that seems to be working and causing no rashes. Here are a few pictures of all the fun we've been having!

A Day At The Park

It was sunny and 91 degrees here today, so after lunch the boys and I headed to the playground. I parked Rogan in the shade under the shelter and Brice got busy climbing and playing. Afterward, we headed to McDonald's so Brice could get an ice cream cone and cool off. It was hilarious watching him eat that cone. He loved it and even offered his brother a taste, but Rogan wasn't interested.Rogan was content to sit and relax in the shade.
The boys have started to play together. Brice enjoys entertaining his brother and making him laugh. Rogan spends his time trying to follow his big brother around to see what he's up to. Here are a few pictures I took last week of the boys playing and rolling around on the floor together.

Mother's Day Weekend

Brian took the whole weekend off, a Mother's Day gift in itself! We spent our Saturday at a small festival here in town and at the Art Walk down on the Riverwalk. It was fun and nice to be outdoors since the last two weeks we have only had a few days of sunshine. Brice was able to see animals at the festival's petting zoo and win a few prizes at the carnival games. Unfortunately, I did not have my camera with me this weekend and have nothing to show for any of our fun.

Brian and the boys got me cards and a gift certificate to go shopping for Mother's Day. I'm not sure what I'll buy myself, but I can't wait to spend it.

We drove to Neosho on Sunday to spend the day with Brian's mom. Dana was in town because Brian's grandpa had hip surgery and she was heading back to work today. Rick wasn't able to come with her and we didn't want her to spend her Mother's Day alone. We packed up the kids and took her out to lunch. We were also able to see Brian's grandpa while we were in town. He's doing great and we hope healing quickly.

We had a great weekend and now it's Monday and back to reality!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

We went to Texas this weekend to see my parents. My Mom's birthday was Friday and we also celebrated Mother's Day with her while we were there. We took the kids to the Dallas Aquarium on Saturday. Brice had a great time, he loved it all. He was exhausted and collapsed into the stroller right before we went through the last of the exhibits. He was dragging his daddy all over looking at all the animals, birds, fish, etc. My cousin Tracee and her husband Derek got a new puppy last week and they went to the Kenny Chesney concert Saturday night so my parents took care of Louie for them. Brice liked taking Louie for walks and playing with him. I think Brice had a lot more fun with Louie than Louie did with Brice. Louie retreated to his kennel a couple of times because he needed a time out from Briceman :) We had a great weekend!
