Birth Mother's Day

Do you know about Birth Mother's Day? Birth Mother's Day is celebrated the Saturday before Mother's Day.  It is a somewhat controversial holiday, some say it is a way to celebrate birth mothers while others say it should be a day of grieving versus a celebration.  The day itself was actually started by birth mothers.  If you are interested in learning more about the history of Birth Mother's Day click here.

I love the concept of Birth Mother's Day. I just wish they would celebrate me on that day instead of ignore me. I have never received any sort of recognition from the adoptive family about Mother's Day, let alone Birth Mother's Day....but my family usually at least tells me Happy Mother's Day.

I can see why some people don't like the day, but I get so angry when they're the ones who make snide comments about it, and degrade those of us who do want to celebrate. It's just like any other Holiday. If you don't approve, then don't celebrate, and don't try to ruin it for those of us who want to. (steps off soap box, sorry =P)
