XRF.ZYC.0809.32169.01 This 2 year old girl is described as a quiet, beautiful girl with a ready smile. Though described as shy and introverted, she is good at communicating with others and likes staying with people. Her limbs are well developed and she is able to control them but she cannot sit alone, stand, crawl or walk. She likes to look at herself in the mirror. She is fond of listening to music, her favorite activity is playing Patty-cake and her favorite toy is a soft blanket.

SP.FAH.0709.32307.01 This 2 year old girl is a pretty little girl who gave us big smiles when the camera flash went off. Her caregivers report that she is blind, but can see a little bit. Based on her smiles and giggles when the camera flash went off, it appears that she can see light. Her caregivers say that she is able to roll over and can play on her stomach. She can hold her head up well. Her eyes rove around with jerky movements. Her development is delayed. From what the orphanage staff shared with us, it sounds as though she spends most of her time in her crib and so it is quite possible that some of her delays are from institutionalization. Her head circumference is 41 ½ cm. She needs a family who will give her the attention she needs and deserves and help her reach her full potential. This child is listed with WACAP through a special partnership project with his/her orphanage. At this time, his/her file is not eligible to be transferred to a different agency. There is a $4,200 Promise Child grant for eligible families for this adoption.

XRF.WTE.0509.32174.01 This 2 year old girl is a bright and capable young girl who can speak in phrases of 3 – 5 words and is known to have a good memory. She is generally healthy but her skin is very sensitive and has multiple nevi. She has good motor development and likes to play outdoors. She also has a good appetite but is not fond of sweets.

XRF.FXH.0409.31227.01 This 2 year old girl when called or sweetly teased she will giggle. She likes to play peek-a-boo and is able to move her hands and legs easily when lying down. She has hydrocephalus and has some trouble holding her head up therefore she cannot sit without help, stand alone or hold things. She is in recovery therapy and she seems to like her treatment times. There is a $2200 Promise Child grant for eligible families for this adoption.

New Look

A big thank you to Lacey Gray Graphic Designs for the new blog design. Lacey updated the look of my blog and 50% of her minimal fee went to support The Campbell Family in their adoption effort.

I love the new look. Turquoise is my favorite color and daisies my favorite flower. Lacey did a great job. Also, she made me a custom button. Copy and paste the code beneath my new button to post it to your blog.

I have added two more families to my "Hoping to Adopt" section. If you would like to be added email me at adoptivemomma2@yahoo.com

Quality Time

Now that Brice is in school all day (and I miss him about every second) Rogan and I get a lot of quality time together.  Of course we take his little sister everywhere we go but she's a breeze.  As long as her diaper is clean and her belly is full she is good to go.

About everyday has turned into Rogan day.  Today, we met Brian for lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant then walked next door to one of those yogurt bars.  We have never been to one before and it sure was fun!  Sixteen flavors and a whole lot of toppings to choose from.  They also have games to play and a chalkboard wall to draw on.  Afterward, Brian headed back to the grind and we headed to the park.

We played on the playground then went on a treasure hunt.  Our treasures generally include bugs, sticks, leaves, walnuts and anything else that a three year old finds on the ground that he believes is cool stuff.  Today our treasures were a couple of ant hills, some dragon flies and several big sticks.

After fun in the sun at the park we headed home for nap time before we pick up big brother.

Quality time.  Rogan waited three years for his one on one time and I hope he's enjoying it as much as I am.

 Searching for treasure.
We had a lot of terrain to cover.

Little sister lacks the enthusiasm for treasure hunting.  She snoozed right through it all.

A New Phase

We have entered a new phase in life.  For the first time in about the last decade we are not actively trying to become parents.  Weird.

We have spent most of our last 10 years trying to build our family.  Of course, we took breaks here and there between adoptions. For the most part though we were always talking adoption, maintaining our profile, researching, keeping in contact with our agency and making sure we were always ready to start again.

Now we are done.  We have one more home study visit before our finalization hearing for Avenn.  We are so comfortable with home study visits at this point the visits end up being just a social visit from our social worker.  More like spending an hour or so with a friend rather than completing an adoption.

I feel like I have lost my blogging mojo.  Adoption is no longer on the forefront of my brain.  I am not researching and actively pursuing a placement so I have no new information to share and post.

Perhaps my blog is moving in a new direction.  I feel like my focus is shifting. Instead of information on the pursuit of placement and the processes and procedures of a placement my focus is now on parenting.  I imagine my posts will now become more about parenting my three children and occasionally how adoption affects our family now and as our kids grow.

I'll continue to answer your emails, questions and address your concerns.  If you need information continue to ask me.  I still know where to find the answers and sometimes my experience alone provides the answers.

I still want to blog and we'll see where it goes.

Thanks for following my family through our adoption(s).  I hope you'll continue to follow us through this next phase of life.

Change

Having a three kids has been a life change but I think having a school aged child has been the biggest change.  It seems since Brice began kindergarten life has been moving a little more quickly.  We seem to be on the go so much more. Always moving and definitely a whole lot less time spent blogging. If you have an adoption related question or you are looking for information please email me at adoptivemomma2@yahoo.com.

I continue to get text messages from a few of you who are adopting and I am still doing my very best to help whenever I can.  Also, I respond to posts on my Facebook page.  Those things I can do from my phone. I have just been unable to locate a few minutes of free time to blog.  My apologies.  I have three kids! I'm very busy.  Busy being mom.  It's awesome.

Happy Birthday Brice!

Brice is six years old today!  Oh my gosh I remember driving to El Paso through the night rushing to get to Texas to meet our son.  The nurse wheeled in the bassinet and I ripped your blanket clean off of you.  I had to see all of you.  I needed to count your fingers and toes.  Your dad thought I was pure crazy.  I loved you that very second and new from that point on I would never be anything but a mommy.  I am fortunate your dad works hard every day allowing me the chance to stay home and be with you.  We sent you off to kindergarten this year and you have grown into such a sweet boy.  We love you.  Happy birthday Briceman!

Arbuckle Wilderness

We drove a couple of hours south to the Arbuckle Wilderness park yesterday and wasted the day away driving through the animal park and watching our kids feed the animals.  It was so much fun.

Now Brian is off to the car wash to wash the buffalo snot off of my car.
