1. Our home study had not expired and only needed updating
2. Our fingerprints and background checks are still on file and only need to be resubmitted
3. Our agency generally tries to place within one year and works with a small number of families each year (usually around 20)
4. We have adopted twice before from the same agency, our paperwork is already complete and we only had to update our file
5. We had previously made two portfolios and I easily updated and submitted a new profile which put us in front of the birth mothers almost immediately
Having been through the process twice before and as recently as two years ago really helped us. The application and approval process were already complete.
Finally, nothing is guaranteed the birth mother has the right to change her mind and we will wait on pins and needles until September. I hesitated to post our good news knowing so many of you are waiting and have been waiting for a long time.
